  give a lecture titled “Qur’an\, Reason\, and Modernity: Islamic Refor
 mist Thought in South Asia.”\nThis lecture explores the emergence of Isl
 amic modernist thought in South Asia\, focusing on the relationship betwee
 n Qur’anic interpretation\,  revelation\,  reason   and modernity. It ex
 amines how reformist thinkers responded to the intellectual and social cha
 llenges of the modern age\, with particular attention to the pioneering ro
 le of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. By situating these developments in a broader co
 mparative perspective\, the talk highlights ongoing debates on religious r
 eform and interpretation in contemporary Muslim societies.\n\n\n\nProf. Dr
 . Shahbaz Manj\, Founding Chairperson of the Department of Islamic Studies
  at the University of Education\, Lahore\, Pakistan\, and currently servin
 g as a Visiting Professor at the University of Göttingen\, Germany.
